Longest Ever Shooting Schedule For A Vijay Film

Ilayathalapathy Vijay, heaved a sigh of relief and joy on Thursday evening, as his Azhagiya Tamizh Magan shoot was completed at Film city in Chennai.

It was the longest ever shooting schedule for a Vijay film, as director Bharathan took nearly 200 days to complete the talkie and songs.

The last song to be shot for ATM, a remix of Sivaji Ganesan’s Sorgam hit number Ponmagan Vanthal….. was picturised on Vijay and Shriya on a set put up by art director Maniraj.

The post production work of the film will start from October 1, with Vijay already completing a good part of dubbing for the film. A.R Rahman will start the re-recording of the film from the second week of October.

Meanwhile producer Swargachitra Appachan is a happy man, as the project conceived nearly three years back is finally going to hit the screens this Diwali.

First Appachan tried to make Puli with Vijay under S.J Surya’s direction, then it became a remake of Pawan Kalyan’s Bangaram, which too was scrapped. Finally it became a reality with ATM under Bharathan!

ATM Shooting Complete

Looks like the word Sivaji has quite a connection with Vijay's next film Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. First Shriya who became popular with the recent blockbuster film 'Sivaji' was signed to play the heroine of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan opposite Vijay.

Now, a superhit song from Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan's hit film "Sorgam" is being re-tuned for Vijay's Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. The song "Ponmagal Vandhal Porul Kodi Thandhal" has been re-tuned by AR Rahman and was picturized on Vijay and Shriya in a grand set erected in Chennai. The shooting for the film was wrapped up after the completion of this song, and post production work (dubbing, re-recording) will be started in the coming days and will go on in full flow.

The audio of the film is scheduled for release sometime early in October although the official confirmation date is not yet available. The audio of the film has tremendous expectations with Vijay and AR Rahman coming together after a long long time, and also coupled with the mega success of AR Rahman's Sivaji which created records this year.

With Vijay busy with Azhageeya Tamil Mahan one must be wondering what’s happening with his next project, Kuruvi. We all know that the Gilli team have come together again to make yet another action-packed movie, hoping they can create their magic once more. And they have started on a fun note [one can say literally]! The shoot has started with fun; the comedy track that features Vivek is nearly complete. Scheduled to release in the summer of 2008, the whole crew and the actor’s fan following are counting on its being another pacey action-packed blockbuster, just like Gilli.

Vijay narrowly escapes from a deadly fire mishap

In what could have been a major fire accident, Vijay managed to get away unhurt on the sets of ATM. His next venture ATM is progressing day in and day out in Hyderabad. A crucial scene demanded collision of a bus and a train for the movie. When the bus was made to collide with the train for the shoots, the petrol storage tank of the bus accidentally flew out of the vehicle and landed next to the actor exploding heavily.

Vijay was luckily unhurt in the incident and was visibly shocked.

Stunt master FEPSI Vijayan expressed his disbelief on the incident and stated that it was sheer luck that Vijay escaped unhurt. Normally, in such explosion scenes the petrol tank of the vehicle would be kept open to prevent such incidents. However, it is learnt that the lid of the storage tank of the bus was inadvertently not removed that resulted in the incident.

As per the scene that was shot, Namita’s family sets out on a journey in the bus to visit Vijay. They watch a movie in the bus and are indulged so much so that they fail to notice the level crossing or the train that is fast approaching. What follows is an ordeal of fire fighting that involves Vijay who helps the passengers in the bus, especially a little girl, to get out of the bus unharmed.

Vijay, Ajith, Dhanush and Simbu – all in one song

Sundar C, the director-turned-actor, has established himself as a minimum guarantee actor with the success of Thalainagaram and the recently released Veerappu. His victory is mainly attributed to the variety that he presents in his movies as they contain all the elements that are required such as comedy, action, songs, dance to name a few. This right mixture has ensured his success thus far.

As a measure to try out something new in his latest venture, Mahamagam (earlier Porikki), Simbu has been roped in to render his voice for a kuthu song. Here’s a sampler: “Pokkiri na Vijay da, Villain na Ajith da, rendu perukkum ivan dosth da. Polladhavan na Dhanush da, Kettavan na Simbu da, vachukatha ivankitta vambu da.” Sundar C and Suja will dance to the tunes of music director Dhina for this song. StoryLine of Kuruvi

Vijay-Dharani combination which gave a super hit movie Ghilli, is back together once again for Kuruvi. Usually Kuruvi or Pura is used as a code word for illegal immigrants.

As the title of the movie indicates, its storyline revolves around a youth who lands in Singapore without proper documents and to add to his woes, the police also find that he has smuggled goods in his possession.

The hero's search for the villains and how he gets out of the mess forms the rest of the story.

Kuruvi will also be a fast paced movie just like Ghilli, reliable sources say. This project is being produced by Udhayanidhi, grandson of Chief Minister Karunanidhi. With Vidya Sagar scoring the music, let's hope that he gives us another smashing hit like "Appadi Podu".

The hit team of “Ghilli”— actors Vijay, Trisha and Prakash Raj, music director Vidyasagar and writer-director Dharani — is back with “Kuruvi”. This is Udayanidhi Stalin’s first film as producer. Three years a fter the blockbuster “Ghilli”, Dharani is making a film in Tamil with Vijay, who is now a superstar. Says Dharani: “My responsibilities have increased, as ‘Kuruvi’ is an all-out action adventure laced with romance and family sentiment. I’ve written the script, keeping Vijay’s image in mind, and I’m sure it will not only please his fans but also become a super hit.” Dharani plans to start shooting for “Kuruvi” soon and it will be Vijay’s big 2008 summer release.

Kuruvi - Of the Mark in a grand style

When one of the biggest combinations come together for a new film, the hype and expectations surrounding the film is normally expected to hit through the roof. Kuruvi sees the comeback of Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Director Dharani who had given Tamil Cinema one of its biggest ever hit film, Ghilli. They come back yet again for another film titled 'Kuruvi' where Trisha will again be the heroine of the film.

The film did not have a formal pooja and the shooting for the film was commenced immediately. The shooting for the day was held at a Five Star Hotel in Adayar. The first scene had Vijay praying in front of a Lord Ganesha statue. The scene which also involved comedian Vivek was shot in a very humorous way and is sure to tickle the funny bone of the viewers. Dharani and the whole team were seen around. Dharani was in a very tense mood and was seen taking special care of the proceedings. A couple of foreigners who were staying in the hotel were also made to act in that scene of the film. The shoot for the day was held in a very silent manner with no crowds or media to create confusion in the proceedings.

The shooting went off very well and in a very smooth and light manner. Producer Udayanidhi was also present at the first day of shooting along with his wife. Director Linguasamy and Actress Trisha were also seen at the shoot. Trisha was seen intereacting with the team members in a very cheerful manner. The centre of attraction of course, was our hero Vijay who was looking very youthful and charming. Vivek looked like he had still not yet come out of the 'Sivaji effect, going by the costumes that he had wore for that particular scene of the film. Vivek had just delivered a blockbuster with Super Star Rajnikanth and here, he is now acting with the Next Super Star Vijay in what promises to be a rollicking film that is expected to push Vijay to the pinnacle of superstardom.

World rights for Vijay's Azhagiya Tamil Magan directed by Bharathan and produced by 'Swargachitra' Appachan have been purchased by Pyramid Saimira Theatres Limited.

It is rumoured that the price paid for the rights is Rs. 25 crores, second only to Superstar's Sivaji.

Azhagiya Tamil Magan is slated for a Diwali release. Azhagiya Tamil Magan will be seen in Pyramid Saimira's 241 screens across South India.

After the stupendous hit of the famous yesteryear hit song “Vasantha mullai” in Pokkiri, Vijay will once again be seen shaking his legs for another “Nadigar Thilagam” Sivaji song “Ponmagal vanthal” in ATM. Ponmagal vanthal is a mega hit song from the famous movie Sorgam.

Ayesha Takia Pairs With Vijay

Vijay’s Azhagiya Tamil Magan is almost reaching its final stages and is slated for a Diwali release. And Ilayathalapathy is gearing up for his next venture Kuruvi, to be directed by Dharani and produced by Udhayanidhi. Meanwhile, the actor has given the go ahead signal to producer London Karunas and the movie will be directed by Prabhu Deva.

With the arrest of Salman Khan, uncertainties loom large over the Hindi Pokkiri, which also happens to be Prabhu Deva’s directorial venture. Incidentally, Ayesha Takia starring in the Hindi Pokkiri has been signed up for this London Karunas-Prabhu Deva’s project too. Being a double heroine subject, the other leading actress is yet to be finalized. Since both Prabhu Deva and Vijay are busy with their ongoing projects, this new venture will start rolling once they are free from their earlier commitments.

"Kuruvi" is Not "Ghilli-2"

Vijay is getting ready for his next big project. He will be the hero of "Kuruvi" which is to be directed by Dharani. Udhayanidhi Stalin, grandson of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is making his debut as a producer with this movie.

It should be recalled that Director Dharani, actor Vijay and music director Vidyasagar came together to make "Gilli" which was a runaway success. They will team up again for "Kuruvi", but Dharani has spiked rumours doing the rounds that "Kuruvi" would be a sequel to "Gilli". "Kuruvi " is an action- adventure mass movie," he said and added, "It is not Gilli-2.Actually Kuruvi is something totally different, and features artistes like Vijay, Trisha and Prakash Raj and has music by Vidyasagar."

Shooting for "Kuruvi" is set to commence in October soon after Vijay-starrer "Azhagiya Thamizh Magan" is wrapped up. "Azhagiya Thamizh Magan", featuring Shreya and Namitha along with Vijay, is directed by Bharathan and produced by Appachan. Pyramid Saimira has reportedly bought the worldwide distribution rights for Rs 25 crore, the highest for any Vijay film so far. This is claimed to be next only to Rajinikanth films.

The film is expected to be completed by the end of this month and released for Deepavali. In South India alone, as many as 241 theatres will screen it, according to sources.
